A Mantra for Busy Women
Ever felt like you’re running a never-ending marathon, trying to juggle everything life throws your way? You’re not alone. But here’s a little secret I learned in my 30s that changed the game: “I can do anything, but I can’t do everything.” Sounds simple, right? Yet, it’s incredibly powerful. Let me explain why this mantra is a game-changer and how it can help you live a more balanced, joyful life.
Why Less is More
In the world of distance running and yoga, mantras are like secret weapons. They push you through tough spots, quiet the inner critic, and help you cross that finish line or achieve that pose you’ve been working on. This mantra, though, goes beyond physical challenges. It’s about acknowledging your strengths and limitations to make your journey through life more fulfilling.
This mantra is a bit different though…
It’s my reminder that I am a powerful being who’s capable of conquering any goal…
AND at the same time, it’s a reminder to not do it all – that I don’t have to. And to not go after all the things at once – they’re all achievable in time. It’s also my reminder to value the journey – the quality, enjoyment, and learning of that journey… instead of just getting to the finish line.
Because I CAN do anything.
And so can you.
Now, this might seem like a message to slow down…
But in fact, it’s not.
Trying to do everything is exhausting, unfun, and can cloud important learning… (You know, those “mistakes” we keep making until we learn the lesson.)
Doing EVERYTHING is what slows us down.
The Power of Choice
Choosing not to do everything is liberating. It clears the fog, brings back that vibrant energy you thought was lost, and makes life fun again. Here’s how you can start making those choices:
- Stop trying to DIY Everything: You don’t have to do it all by yourself. Delegate, ask for help, and build a support team around you.
- Focus on One Goal: Scattergun approaches rarely hit the target. Pick one goal and give it your all.
- Trust the Process: Not every day will be perfect, and that’s okay. Learn from the bumps along the way.
- Let Go: If something isn’t serving you anymore, it’s okay to walk away. This frees up space for what truly matters.
- Prioritize Your Health: Often, this is the key that unlocks other doors. A healthy you is a more effective you.
Let me tell you, I’ve learned many lessons the hard way…
When we’re doing it all, we’re not thriving – we’re missing out on living.
